Biography
Born and raised in Berlin-Kreuzberg, Germany, Anri began playing classical guitar at the age of 11 and transitioned to electric guitar at 13.
In 2006, at the age of 21, he was accepted into the renowned Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, where he studied jazz guitar under acclaimed European guitarist Frank Möbus.
During his time at the university, he had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses and workshops with internationally respected artists such as John Taylor, Palle Danielsson, Martial Solal, Carlos Bica, Jeff Cascaro, Michael Schiefel, Carsten Daerr, Jim Black, Renaud Garcia-Fons, and Martin France.
In 2011, Anri further expanded his musical education by attending Berklee College of Music on a one-year scholarship. He has also worked as a composer and musician for various TV commercials and musicals in Germany, including productions at the well-known Film Studios Babelsberg.
After earning his Master’s Degree in Jazz Guitar in 2013 from Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, Anri moved to Japan and began teaching at the American Guitar Academy in Tokyo. As director, he played a key role in growing and expanding the school between 2014 and 2020.
Today, as a Berlin-born and Tokyo-based musician, Anri continues his work as a guitar instructor while developing his own original art, compositions, and improvised music. In addition, he is the creator of his own online jazz guitar courses.
